What review will check for jewelry.
This is the intended process. The marketplace has not launched and the final review policy will be published first.

Evidence of your bench
We expect to ask for photos of your workspace, tools and pieces in progress, such as sawn, soldered or wire-wrapped work before finishing.

Made versus assembled
Buying findings, chain, beads or stones is normal. Reselling finished pieces bought from a wholesaler is not handmade. We will ask you to say what you make and what you buy in.

Listing photos that match the work
Automated checks will compare photos against known stock and dropshipping images and flag matches. A person decides what happens next. Nothing is removed automatically.
Limits: we cannot assay metals or gemstones, so we cannot confirm that sterling, gold-filled or a natural stone is what a listing says. We can check that your description is consistent and ask you to show hallmarks. Nickel-free and hypoallergenic claims are yours to make accurately.
Photos that help review.
- Use natural light and a plain, non-reflective background.
- Add a close-up of the clasp, hallmark or stamp, and one photo worn or next to a coin or ruler for scale.
- Show the back of the piece, not only the front.
- Use your own unedited photos. Stock images and AI-generated product images will not pass review.
Your name stays yours.
We publish a maker’s name, photographs or story only with that maker’s explicit consent, given separately for each. There are no placeholder makers, products or reviews on this site.

A few things
to know.
Is jewelry made from purchased components allowed?
We expect to allow pieces you design and assemble when the listing is clear about what you made and what you bought in. The final policy will be published before launch.
Will you verify my metals or stones?
No. We cannot test materials. Review looks at your process evidence and whether your descriptions are consistent, and you remain responsible for accurate material claims.
What if I already sell on Etsy?
You can keep your Etsy shop. The calculator above shows the fee difference on your own numbers, and nothing requires you to leave anywhere.
Is joining the list an application?
No. It is an expression of interest that costs nothing and does not approve you to sell. A separate human review comes before any shop goes live, and there is no promised date.
Will you publish my name, photos or story?
Only with your explicit, separate consent for each of those things. Joining the list does not give us permission to show your name, your photographs or your story anywhere. The illustrations on this page are AI-generated and are not makers or products from Hand & Kin.
